Soon the heat, good weather and the most anticipated time of the year will arrive: summer. During these months we enjoy our free time, vacations and spend more hours exposed to the sun. But many times we don't think about the risks that this season entails. Therefore, whatever our plan is, we must be aware and follow certain guidelines so as not to harm our skin and our health.
In this post we want to show advice, give you information and answer questions that have crossed our minds at some point when it comes to protecting our skin properly. And thus, saving ourselves unpleasant consequences in the long term. Mentalize yourself and protect your skin!
What does sun protection factor mean?
The FP or protection factor indicates the additional time you can be exposed to the sun without risk of sunburn, this depends directly on your own skin type and the self-protection capabilities it has.
We emphasize that sun protection is only effective if a sufficient amount of product is applied to the skin. Be generous!
What is the factor (SFP) that best suits you?
The protection factors to use depend, as we have already said, on your skin type. If you have very fair skin, use the highest factor, which is 50+. With normal to light skin, ensure your protection using a factor between 30 and 50 SPF. You can choose lower sun factors if your skin is dark or tans very easily.
Even so, this is somewhat indicative because if you spend the entire day exposed to the sun, such as on a day at the beach, the most logical thing is to use a high sunscreen regardless of your skin type. Remember: The more hours of sun, the higher the protection factor.
When should you apply sunscreen?
We often overlook this point, but it is recommended to apply the sunscreen at least half an hour before sun exposure. The main reason is that these products need time to penetrate the skin and begin to fulfill their function as a protective filter.
So remember to put on protection before leaving home or make a stop before reaching your destination, opt for effective protection!
How much protection should you use?
The protection of a sunscreen depends directly on the amount you apply to your body. For this reason, it is recommended to be generous when applying the product to the body.
The application of sunscreens is essential for effective protection against the sun. Don't forget parts of the body such as the nape of the neck, the neckline or the backs of the legs when putting on the product.
This application is much more comfortable and faster with 360º sprays like the ones we have in our Agrado solar line. Are Solar Dry Mists with three types of factors: SPF50, SPF30, SPF15 in convenient spray format. Their texture is very light, which makes them practical and quickly absorbed.
What to keep in mind with children and sun protection?
Children's skin is delicate and more vulnerable to damage. The natural protection of the skin in children is not yet fully developed until after adolescence.
In addition, sunburns produced in childhood can leave their mark in adulthood, so it is important that children use sun care products with high protection factors and appropriate for them.
We must also take into account that the product is resistant to water or waterproof because children usually spend the whole day playing on the shore or swimming and are constantly wet.
To maintain the level of sun protection for as long as possible, Agrado Cosmetic has launched on the market Dry Solar Mist SPF 50 Kids in spray format within its line of sunscreens. It has a comfortable 360º application and rapid absorption, ideal for children. In addition, it is a waterproof product specially designed to protect you while having fun on the beach.
If I use a high sunscreen won't I look tanned?
This is a total myth, although unfortunately many people still think it today. The conclusion they reach is that by using a lower protection factor they will achieve a more intense tan. They are completely wrong!
Although it may take longer to tan, it will be more beneficial for your skin to use a high SFP to help protect against sunburn and skin aging caused by UV radiation.
Is it true that you should avoid sunbathing at certain hours?
“Do not sunbathe in the middle of the day, it is very bad”, this advice is one of the most heard and also one of the most important. Most of the time, we spend the entire day on the beach and therefore, we must comply with this point as we should, above all for the health of our skin.
Our advice is to get to the beach early and find an area with natural shade between palm trees or bring an umbrella. Also, use a high factor protector and reapply it to all parts of the body, approximately every two hours. This will help your skin not suffer so much if you are going to spend all day exposed to the sun.
And that's it for today's post about the importance of sun protection. We hope you have resolved your doubts and applied our advice this summer for the health of your skin. Don't forget to leave your comments here on the blog.
